Skyline Frequencies
Introduction
In many African cosmologies, the sunset marks a sacred transition between realms – the visible world of day and the invisible world of night. It is seen as an hour of crossing, when ancestral and natural energies become most present. Through music, drumming, and song, communities honor this shift, guiding the passage between life and spirit, invoking protection and celebrating continuity. The rhythms performed at dusk mirror the cyclic flow of existence – from day to night, birth to death, movement to stillness – embodying harmony, balance, and interconnectedness within the universe.
Why is the name Skyline Frequencies?
Other than the African spiritual, traditional, and symbolic meaning of the sunset. Skyline frequencies in this case refers to scenic views, the power of different frequencies on the mind, letting loose and the connection of human beings during the golden hour which is awoken by music and the energy one experiences at that particular hour of the day which is rather calming and soothing as the day comes to an end giving a vibe of interaction, Connection and general warmth.
It is an event that starts at 3 PM and runs all the way to 10 PM, the highlight moment being the sunset. During this time, we curate music that specifically fits into that timing and is in alignment with the energy and vibe that people feel during those hours.
The main musical genres being played are deep house, 3 step, private amapiano (sub-genre of amapiano), and on some occasions, a combination of live jazzy, melodious music and the DJ sets.
This creates a very relaxing ambience whereby you get to experience an outdoor space with good music, tasty food, and drinks, and in communion with friends. Dance culture is deeply rooted in our traditions as Africans, so this event is designed to ease tension amongst people, build room for connection, and create a feeling of relaxation and ecstasy as you transition into the next day.
(This is one of Third Eye’s major events taking place during the first quarter of the year)
